In order to use our characters that were aged under 18, we had to get their parents to sign our consent forms and read our policy on child protection. The forms allowed us to film both Johnny, aged 5, and Jamie, aged 17 for our trailer and post it on our blogs and our private Youtube channel.

9 Frame structure analysis - The Notebook

We chose to analyse 'The Notebook' trailer as it relates to our idea as it is a romance drama and the parents of one of the characters do not want the teenagers to be together.
The first frame shows the couple dancing in the middle of the road and looking affectionately into each other's eyes, showing a large amount of love and happiness which is the emotion that we want to portray when showing the relationship between our two characters.
The second shot shows the way that teenagers do stuff together in the time era that this was set. It shows the two couples together, the boys riding the bike and the girls on the front laughing and having fun together. This gives the audience a sense of happiness and youth and shows that the two different kinds of class of people can be together.
The third shot shows a beautiful scene of the boy and girl in a rowing boat on a river where they are surrounded by swans. This was a key shot in the trailer because it signifies the romance and love as swans are portrayed as gentle and cleansing and the trees around them also make a relaxing setting.
The fourth frame also shows the boat in the river with the trees and swans, however as an arial shot which is key for our trailer as it is also a social realism film, therefore we need all different details of our shots from different angles to show things in different ways,
The fifth frame shows the upper class family hosting a dinner party and the boy from a lower class family is invited. This is significant because everyone at the party is wearing white, to show wealth and class, however the boy is wearing a black t-shirt, which stands out from every one else making it clear to the audience that he is different and of lower wealth.
The next frame, however, shows the boy as an adult, dressed in white standing outside a large house that he built himself. This tells the audience that anyone can succeed and makes them feel sympathy as he was rejected when he didn't have much money, however he is now successful and well-off.
The seventh frame shows the girl, also now as an adult with her new fiancee who her parents approve of as he comes from a wealthy background. This links to our trailer as we also show a character that is a boy who the girl's parents want her to be with as he is more like her family compared to the boy that she loves.
The next shot shows a good use of the camera angles, as it shows the boy rowing his boat on the river in the sunset with the credits underneath the boat, as if they are floating on the water. This gives us ideas of where to place our credits in our trailer and make them look subtle and fit in with the scene.
The final, ninth frame shows the original boy and girl as elderly people, dancing together just like the first shot of when they are teenagers, showing a clear example of the romance genre and similar to ours again, as it shows the couple rebelling against the parents and being together.
